This is unfortunate.
I have a great deal of respect for Somer and her Blinks. I love CCP and the awful game they have willfully addicted me to.
But some times, just sometimes, you come out with really stupid ideas like this and I really have to cringe.
Please guys, take the advice of a friend and don't do this. You can rustle up a new limited edition, you can lottery them to active accounts using even the most primitive random selection process and you can avoid a costly mistake.
Don't let the winter expansion announcement be spoilt by one set of comically bad decisions. |

You know, in case you want to protest. All you had to do to stay in the clear here was to say nothing, but you had to give it some attitude.
Don't you think it's a little cliche for a gambling magnate to resort to intimidation when accused of corruption?

We didn't close it when he ignored our rules and tried to sell answers to our trivia giveaways in Jita local, we certainly wouldn't close it over a rabble rousing forum post :) Jolly good.
In any case, if CCP do not change their mind on this, I'd like to congratulate you on this unprecidented blessing. I personally believe that the hard work of your group should be applauded and rewarded, but I'm fairly sure you had that side of things taken care of without the need for CCP to take this troubling course.
I find no fault in you, just because CCP has decided they want to re-issue limited edition content (when there is no need to) and give such a large gift to your player group (regardless of the good works it may be put to). I've been the beneficiary of too many windfalls to righteously complain about others getting their share.
I fully understand you have an interest in the outcome here too, but this may be one of those situations where it's best to stay out of the line of fire.

It's perfectly reasonable for players that like the game to be concerned by a change in direction which could endanger the long term appeal and viability of the game. Or to be concerned when a publicity stunt that is supposed to positively promote the game on the day of an expansion announcment that is critical to the future prospects of the game turns into a entirely avoidable PR disaster due a string of fundamental errors.
Really, most of us just want CCP to stop self harming. |
